Notes

  • If you have problems:
    1. UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS at http://www.voodoofiles.com/! This is one of the most common problems people have. Even if you think you have the most current, update them again!
    2. Are you in fullscreen mode? You MUST be in fullscreen mode to see anything!
    3. If you have a Voodoo2, make sure you are not running on a resolution higher than 800x600.
    4. Look at the compatibility list to make sure that the game you are trying to run is compatible with Glide64.
    5. If you are using wrappers, expect Glide64 to run worse than it would on a 3dfx-based card.
    6. Post the problem on the Glide64 message board.
    7. Contact me

Note: You MUST be in fullscreen mode to see anything! Glide doesn't support windowed mode.

  • Glide64 only supports the following cards, or cards based on the following. It only supports 3dfx glide cards, hence the name Glide64:
    • Voodoo Banshee
    • Voodoo 1
    • Voodoo 2
    • Voodoo 3
    • Voodoo 4
    • Voodoo 5

As of 0.2, Voodoo 1 has been added to the list due to new support for mirroring.

  • For non-voodoo users: it is strongly recommended to use Hacktarux's glide3x wrapper included into latest Glide64 releases. This wrapper created specially for Glide64 and it currently provides best quality and speed. Another alternative is zeckensack's Glide wrapper. This wrapper is good too, but it does not support multitexturing yet, which is vital for most N64 games. You may also use eVoodoo 3 wrapper for older versions of Glide64.

  • Glide64 installation for dummies
    1. Download Glide64 distributive
    2. Unpack it into temporal folder
    3. Go to that temporal folder
    4. Copy Glide64.dll and Glide64.ini from "Plugin" folder into "Plugin" folder of your emulator
    5. If you don't have 3dfx card, copy glide3x.dll from "Hacktarux's glide3x wrapper" into your emulator's folder, where main exe file is placed (main exe is Project64.exe or 1964.exe or mupen64.exe etc)
    6. Run your emulator
    7. In emulator's settings select Glide64 as your video plugin. Push "About" button to see information about the plugin (optional)
    8. Now you need to configure video plugin. Select correspondent option in emulator's settings. In Glide64 configuration dialog select desired screen resolution. If you have fast PC, select 'Depth buffer render' option. For Mupen64 emulator, select 'Get frame buffer info' option. If you don't have 3dfx card, push 'Wrapper' button and select full screen resolution for the wrapper. Press "Ok' button to close configuration dialog
    9. Run a game
    10. If a game does not work well, check 'Glide64 compatibility list.htm' for additional options. If game's status is "Compatible', but it actually does not work - report about it on our forum
